As a specialist potato storage research facility for over 45 years, SBCSR has a wealth of expertise backed up by unrivalled facilities for storage trials. These are suitable for work in all of the potato industry's premium sectors as well as agrochemical, machinery and product evaluation.
Standards
Sutton Bridge Crop Storage Research conducts all its studies under a quality management system and standard operating procedures compliant with ISO 9001 (2008), audited twice a year by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance.
Agrochemical efficacy & residue trials
SBCSR is also an Officially Recognised Efficacy Testing Organisation (ORETO certificate no. 227) registered with the UK Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD) for the provision of data. We can also conduct trials to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirements in conjunction with appropriately accredited third party monitoring and auditing bodies.
We have established procedures, based on the European and Mediterranean
Plant Protection Organisation’s (EPPO) guidelines, for undertaking efficacy trials on storage. SBCSR personnel have the expertise for chemical application using the latest equipment, ranging from hot fogging and granule applicators to hydraulic sprayers and cold misting technology.
We have good collaborative links to other centres with expertise in application and residue measurement too.
