Black dot on potato skin seen through a microscope

AHDB Potato Council provide strong leadership and support for the science of potato pathology. This includes risk management, how the impact of important factors in disease development can be best controlled. An important factor for blemish disease is storage - some diseases spread through stored tubers and some will develop significantly during storage.

Current and recent projects carried out on tuber blemish diseases at Sutton Bridge Crop Storage Research include:

Black Dot

Crop Duration and Soil Inoculum as Predictors of Black Dot Risk after Storage, G Harper (SBCSR) & J Peters (Fera), Aug 2009.

Skin Spot

Skin Spot Management - Polyscytalum pustulans qPCR assay (R294) J Peters, J Woodhall (Fera) & G Harper, G Stroud (SBCSR) 22 Dec 2010

Skin Spot Management- fungicide application methods (R413), S Wale (SAC) & G Harper (SBCSR), Dec 2010

Please contact Glyn Harper to discuss these projects.
