- The GB weekly average price was £127.78/t and the free-market average was £91.77/t.
- In the packing sector the prospects of a longer trading season, resulting from current wet weather conditions delaying planting and new crop development, increased producer confidence with prices firming.
- In the bag sector demand remained slow with the main interest centred on good frying supplies moving at steady prices.
- Total plantings up to 11 May are estimated at 85,165ha, compared to 122,270ha last year and 123,500ha in 2010.
