- The GB weekly average was £125.84/t and the free-market average was £91.73/t.
- In the packing sector demand for best quality supplies was improving a little, with some 'stocking up' for the bank holiday weekend. Overall the trade was steady, but with poor weather conditions and planting delays, there was a positive outlook for the remaining stored crop.
- In the bag sector demand remained generally slow, although there was increased interest in good quality frying supplies moving mainly to repeat orders at firm prices.
- Total plantings up to 4 May are estimated at 76,080ha, compared to 118,800ha last year and 115,000ha in 2010.
