Seed Exports
1 March 2011
Worldwide, Great Britain's potato exporting companies supply high health status seed and excellent consumption (ware) potatoes. The Potato Council export department works closely with British export companies to communicate the qualities of British seed around the world.
The list of countries importing British potatoes is huge and continues to grow, thanks to quality seed and consumption potatoes, and the work of the committed and dedicated British export companies, in association with the Potato Council.
British seed exporters work in partnership with buyers and plant health authorities in export markets to ensure that their seed meets strict phytosanitary regulations and customer requirements. British-bred varieties undergo trials to assess their suitability for particular markets and climates in order to be listed on approved national variety lists. British seed is grown in markets as close as Ireland and as distant as Thailand.
British consumption potato exporters provide high quality table and processing potatoes to many markets. British potatoes are known for their good skin finish and range of varieties.
